Almost time…

Since nobody’s posting up in here, I figured I should post something to get everyone ready for the Falcons season…

Bitches’ Brew

The Smegma Sisters w/ Dirty Sanchez on the Rusty Trombone!!

I received thirty freebies for Sunday’s Brewers game from PPC (courtesy of Sir Terrance, Duke of Cloister) and had two days to find takers. Dave, Quin, Mike, Al and Lupita made it out, as did my friend Lewis and my family. The other tickets I passed out to people waiting in line to buy tickets, something that is illegal. I guess they don’t want you to take away money from AOL.

The tickets were Upper Box behind the plate; usually $15 a pop. Not great, but not terrible. Hudson gave up a lot of hits, but managed to consistently get out of trouble. The Braves went out to a 4-0 lead and looked like they would cruise to an easy victory (for once). Hudson’s luck would run out in the 7th as he was pulled with two outs, a two run lead and two men on. For some reason Dix borught on rookie Tyler “Don’t Call me Keats” Yates, who promptly blew the lead and had no business being in there with the game on the line, especially when Paronto and Baez could’ve been brought in to get the Braves out of the inning.

In the 8th Inning, the Braves regained the lead through Francoeur and McCann homers. Baez and Wickman closed out the 8th and 9th innings and the Braves took the series.

The highlight of the day was receiving a Braves BMT for the second year in a row. Talk about good fortune!

Talkin’ Basebrawl

My string of fantastic luck (Mathews Jr. catch, Luke Scott’s cycle) continued last night as I got to see the Rangers/Angels brawl live. The game was a blowout early as Texas put up an 8 spot in the 3rd inning with Nelson Cruz, batting ninth, slapping a Grand Slam. The game was decided when things got interesting in the 8th. The Angels reliever, Kevin Gregg, threw a pitch behind Ian Kinsler. The umps gave both teams a warning at that point. To provide a little backstory, Adam Eaton (the Rangers starter on this night) was tossed from a game in Anaheim earlier this year for throwing at an Angel. Then, in the first game of this series Tuesday, Vicente Padilla hit Vlad Guerrero and Rivera with pitches and was tossed (guess he was mad because he was losing 6-3 and getting rocked). Anyhow, Gregg proceeded to hit the next batter, Michael Young, and he got thrown out along with Scioscia. Brendan Donnelly came in to pitch for the Angels and he hit Guzman in the back with a pitch. He got tossed along with the acting manager Ron Roenicke. Now the crowd was pumped up to see if the Rangers would go after the Angels.

In the top of the ninth, Texas put in a new reliever, Scott Feldman. When his first pitch was called a ball, the crowd booed like crazy as they wanted him to throw at the batter. After retiring the first two hitters, he decided to hit Adam Kennedy in the back. Without hesitation, Kennedy charged the mound and the brawl was on. Kennedy got speared, after attacking Feldman with some girly punches, by none other than Mark DeRosa (I’m sure Skip Carey somewhere was mentioning the fact that DeRosa played QB at Penn). It was the usual baseball scrum where no good punched were thrown but the funny thing was about 6 players and coaches holding John Lackey back. That guy looks like he could do some damage. The crowd started chanting, “Let’s Go Rangers!” which was pretty cool. The Rangers ended up winning 9-3 and it was dollar dog night. I had two.

When do you think we should get together to “draft” for the games?
