Who’s on your wishlist? I know he’s a dog, but I gotta go with Will Muschamp for no other reason than this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyeby6qHlDAAlot of people are talking Paul Johnson. I don’t like it. He’s obviously a good coach to have success at Navy, but how much recruiting does he have to do there?

Does anyone want Lang’s boyfriend Stephon Marbury for the Hawks? I see that he’s on the block, but I don’t see the Hawks necessarily mentioned as one of the suitors?
Would he make sense for the Hawks? We need a real PG and another consistent scorer, but do we need the headaches?

The game is only two days away- any thoughts?
For the first time in my life, I will be cheering for UGAg to win, but purely for selfish reasons. I’ve always contended that the only way I would cheer for GA would be if it somehow helped out Tech in some way. A Tech loss has got to be the final nail in Gay-lee’s coffin. Funny how times change- a few years ago, all of those Tech shitheads were defensive and combative about Gailey but are now championing what i’ve been saying for years- Gailey’s coaching abilities are just plain horrible and he’s gotta go. Consider me a visionary, or more apt, not a blind moron like those Gailey apologists.
Prediction: Dawgs 28-13

Which team will show up vs. the Spurs? The team that beat the Mavs and the Suns or the team that lost to Washington and Seattle at home?
Ismail and I are going to the game- I’m looking forward to seeing the Spurs as I have not seen them play since we signed on for season tickets three seasons ago. I enjoy watching good team basketball, especially on the pro level. The Spurs remind me of the 1980s Celitcs teams that we had the luxury of watching in our formative years.

Does anyone buy Glavine’s quote that he felt his family was having to make too many sacrifices with him being in NY? If that’s so, then why didn’t he return last year?
Are you glad that he’s back? I have mixed feelings- we need someone with some quality to give us some innings and Glavine should be able to give us that. However, I will never forgive him for his greed and for going to the f’ing Mets. I guess i’ll cheer for him to do well but I sure as hell won’t like him, sort of like how we all seem to feel about Chipper.

This was the best Hawks game I’ve seen in years: double overtime, great offensive displays by both the Hawks and Seattle, and a game-winning, buzzer-beating 3-pointer. Unfortunately, the Hawks lost, but I’m still proud of the way they hung around and forced 2 overtime periods. In the end, Durant simply made a ridiculous shot with 2 Hawks right in his face. Don’t know if you guys saw it, but it got 2nd place for the play of the week, and it probably should have been first place.
The Hawks were down through the first 2 quarters, but staged a great comeback in the 3rd behind…who else?…Joe Johnson. During one stretch, he was incredible– hitting high arcing threes and making crazy drives through multiple defenders. It always amazes me how effortless he makes it look.
Childress had another good game — somewhere around 20 points and 10 rebounds. The new-look Lue contributed too, especially in overtime. He didn’t get that much PT, but when he came in the game, he hit clutch shots, including the one that sent it into double overtime. I was impressed that he could come off the bench cold and make such an important contribution. Horford was also solid — playing great defense on Wilcox and helping out in the lane in general. I wish they would get rid of Shelden and just play Horford.
In the end, the Hawks were hurt by foul trouble. Marvin Williams fouled out, as well as Horford (I think). Other Hawks starters were in foul trouble too. Still, I really thought it was going to triple overtime until Durant hit that absurd shot.
And finally, I can’t say enough about “Baby Niqueeeeeee!”. That’s what a guy in the box with us kept shouting. Damien Wilkins went off and ended with something like 41 points. I didn’t know he was that good. Or maybe he isn’t, but wanted to show out for his uncle. At any rate, he was a killer for the Hawks; they couldn’t find any kind of defensive answer for him.
Normally I’d be mad when someone dished out such a beating on the Hawks, but I just can’t hate on a Wilkins.

Anybody else out there hoping for a big Blue Devils win Saturday against the Golden Domers? It would be icing on the cake for the worst season in ND history. Nice to know that LSU’s crushing win against an overmatched and overrated Irish team last year has sent ole’ lapband and his team to losing to multiple service academy teams. Guess it’s not even safe playing Navy and Air Force anymore. Jimmy Clausen? Might want to check the family history next time numbnuts. Not a leader among them.

So, was Larry & the Blacks a dream or reality? My favorite part of that ending sequence was when they showed the family making a ruckus in the movie theater.

Steve had today’s tickets and called with a last minute invitation, so I decided to go. Unfortunately, I made the wrong decision. Quite simply- the game sucked. Just like the Celtics road game on Friday, the Hawks were outplayed and out-hustled on the boards (gave up 18 offensive boards) and never really threatened to seriously win the game. The Hawks lack of interior defense made Haywood (13p, 12r), Jamison (23p, 15r) and Butler (24p, 7r,6a) look like perennial All-Stars. You’d think that if you held Arenas to ten pts. going into the 4th, you’d be in good shape, but the Hawks were down by 13 at that point. They made a slight run midway through the 4th to cut the lead to five, but didn’t look like they would actually have anything left down the stretch (which they didn’t), losing 101-90.
The one lone bright spot was Marvin (20p, 12r)- he hit all of his open looks, had double-digit rebounds and even played some credible physical defense for once.
Joe (8-24 from the field) and J-Smith looked subpar. Smith in particular made some of his usual mistakes late in the game, mishandling the ball, forcing ill-advised passes and making poor shot selections when prudence was needed. Law played very little and most of the PG responsibilities inexplicably went to T-Lue. With about 5 minutes left in the game, I remember looking at the Stats board and seeing that Lue had ONE assist. Pathetic.
Horford had a solid game with 9 pts and 10 rebounds. He’s done well this season on the boards as he’s averaging 9.3 RPG so far. However, he doesn’t really seem to be involved too much in the offensive scheme and is getting most of his buckets underneath from dump passes.
Shelden played a total of 38 seconds, which is a little hard to understand since he’s actually had some solid games this season defensively and the Hawks needed to try something different defensively in the paint.
The Spin: There was absolutely nothing of value on the Wheel- no vouchers, no drink tickets, only cheap promo items. I’ve noticed that the Spirit really seem to be cost-cutting this year- the promotions nights suck (No Statues or Bobbles), no thundersticks, cheaper vouchers (when and if they have them) and Steve noticed that there’s no longer a live in-game band. The lawsuit must really be taking its toll.

What a win! Three Hawks with Double-Doubles (Marvin and both Joshes). Okay, so Amare didn’t play, but it’s still a big win.
Al had the tickets for tonight; it will be interesting to see what his thoughts are about the game and the crowd.
