All-Star Media Day

I went to New Orleans last weekend to cover the All-Star Weekend for SLAM and SLAMonline.com. I got to go to all the events and competitions, and I spent way too many late nights out and about — wrote a lot about over on SLAMonline.

On Saturday I went to the annual media day and took my video camera along…

  • No more season tickets for me

The Hawks just lost me for Season Tickets. No, not because of their horrible play of late or the fact that Woody still has his job-i’m used to those things and have tolerated them now for three years. No, it’s a much different reason- I received our Ticket Renewal package today for next season and our tickets have more than doubled from $199 to $440 apiece, a 120% increase. Thanks but no thanks, the product does not merit the price hike.

  • The Trade: So Far, No Good

Not that it’s Bibby’s fault, but so far, the trade hasn’t helped, largely as Joe and J-Smith haven’t stepped up. Throw in the usual poor coaching from Woody and it’s business as usual for the Hawks. It’s time to cut bait on Woody and let someone else take us through the rest of the season. I just can’t see Woody leading us to the Promised Land.

  • I don’t believe that he’s had a very good season, esepcially if you compare it to last year. He’s had some woeful shooting slumps and has been a non-factor in several games this season.

To me, Josh Smith is playing better than Joe and deserved the A.S. nod; while he can be wild at times, he’s consistently getting points, rebs, and blocks. He’s been much more of a constant threat this season than Joe and I wish more people had taken notice of it. FYI, Charles Barkley had Smith on his All-Star list, but no JJ.
