Rise Up Mofos!

A 10-7 win for the Jackets; an embarrassment for the program and the fans. Tech, playing third-stringer Calvin Booker at QB, looked dreadful offensively and could not get the Option working at all. The Offensive Line was horrible and looked nothing like they had in the first five games. At least the defense for Tech was solid, especially considering the amount of time they had to spend on the field.  We (Dave, Al, the Minstrel, Ismail and I) kept waiting for the Offense to put G-W away, but they just kept going 3-and-Out practically every Series and allowing for G-W to stay in the game. Before the game, it was inconceivable to Tech fans that G-W would even be able to hang in there, but there they were with nine seconds left with a chance to kick a game-tying Field Goal. Luckily for Tech, the kick was partially blocked and the team saved A LITTLE bit of face by not losing the game.

I realize that the team was probably looking ahead to the Clemson game the next weekend, but you simply can’t play that way against a team like Gardner-Webb. I guess the Pollsters were right in not voting Tech into the Top 25 the week before; I was surprised to see that they still received votes this week considering the lackluster win.

I’m thinking 6-6 unless there is a surprise or two and they finish at 7-5.

Too bad the Falcons aren’t in the old NFC West anymore- that would be two wins for Atlanta.

For the Bowl Season, I thought it would be appropriate to have something College Football Related. As you watch these games, who do you always seem to root for and root against?

    Favorites:

    1. Tech
    2. Notre Dame
    3. Florida (purely for anti-UGA reasons)
    4. ACC Teams (Miami excepted) -most teams are taking a hit this year
    5. Illinois

Against (I could never cheer for these teams unless it helped Tech or ND):

    1. UGA
    2. Miami
    3. Michigan
    4. SEC Teams (except FLA)

    Tech’s new coach.

Who’s on your wishlist?  I know he’s a dog, but I gotta go with Will Muschamp for no other reason than this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyeby6qHlDAAlot of people are talking Paul Johnson.  I don’t like it.  He’s obviously a good coach to have success at Navy, but how much recruiting does he have to do there?

  • The game is only two days away- any thoughts?

For the first time in my life, I will be cheering for UGAg to win, but purely for selfish reasons. I’ve always contended that the only way I would cheer for GA would be if it somehow helped out Tech in some way. A Tech loss has got to be the final nail in Gay-lee’s coffin. Funny how times change- a few years ago, all of those Tech shitheads were defensive and combative about Gailey but are now championing what i’ve been saying for years- Gailey’s coaching abilities are just plain horrible and he’s gotta go. Consider me a visionary, or more apt, not a blind moron like those Gailey apologists.

    Prediction: Dawgs 28-13

  • 11/1: Tech v. VA Tech

Crap game-knew it would be and regret making the effort to go. I left with 4 minutes to go in the 3rd Quarter when VT scored to go up 24-3. Hopefully this will be the next-to-last nail in the coffin for Gailey. The final nail, of course, will be the inevitable loss to Ugag.

I did pick up a Gailey football card that had a bible lesson on the back- I dropped by Dave’s car on the way back and left it on his windshield so that he can be Saved.

    The Rollercoaster ride continues

Was anyone surprised one bit that Tech beat Miami? This is all part of Gailey’s M.O.- win games you’re not supposed to and lose to mediocre teams. It’s amazing how consistent this up-and-down pattern has been over the past six years- the only consistency in the Gailey era.

  • Any predictions on the multitude of games this weekend?

Will Tech beat BC? I think so.

Which athletes do you feel have really given the Atlanta Sports scene a blackeye over past decades?

    1. John Rocker- Didn’t do much for promoting a new South, did he? He is the epitome of the dumbass redneck that closed-minded Northerners think of when they describe Southerners. I guess his career washing out was Karma.

    2. Michael Vick- Maybe all of this will be a blessing in disguise as we will get rid of that albatross of a contract. While he was exciting, it just seemed like he was never going to take us to the next level. It’s not surprising that he was involved in something so stupid; his decision-making on the field wasn’t very intelligent at times either.

    3. Kasten/Babcock- The effects of the ‘Nique trade are still haunting us; just plain stupid to trade away your best player when you’re in first place with less than two months left in the season. Jon Contract was another of their disasters and it seems to me that this deal really started the ball rolling in terms of mediocre players getting huge contracts. Way to be trailblazers, boys!

    4. Dave Braine- No AD should ever admit that his Football program can’t be expected to compete and should basically strive for 7-8 win seasons. How could anyone be that stupid to utter something like that to the media? So much went wrong under his (mis)direction, including of course the Gailey extension after another 7-5 finish and a blowout loss in a third-rate bowl. Now, because of Braine-Dead’s 11th Hour dealings,  new AD Radkovich is stuck with this loser for four more years.

    5. Otis Nixon- I really believe that we would’ve won the 1991 World Series had Nixon not been suspended for drug use right before the Playoffs. His speed and defense would’ve made all of the difference and I think that we would have won in Atlanta and wouldn’t have had to return to Minnesota in the first place. Imagine if we win that first one…who knows what might have happened after that? Maybe 4-5 World Series?
